“…ongoing law enforcement investigation…”
That’s funny? Why am I getting a new credit card now? It does not expire for a few months. Eh–Whatever. Lemme call the card activation number.
Your account number ending in XYZ has been canceled. It has been flagged for fraud investigation and cannot be used due to an ongoing law enforcement investigation…
CRAP! Looks like I’ll be wasting some time looking at statements and updating my auto-pays.

My guess is a merchant you use had their security compromised. You’ll never really know because you can’t get that information from the credit card companies - I believe the law protects them or the merchant in this case.
My money is on probikekit.

Yeah. I called up the cc company and they said it was a merchant that lost and/or had data compromised. Of course, the rep’s first question was,
“Did you read the informational packet with that came with the new card?”
Uh–you mean that thing I just shredded? Someday I might start reading my mail again.
